Cherlyn Tefera: mine was over heating its was because the Radiator / cooling fan went out... so i had to keep my air on so the ac fan would kick on and help to keep it from over heating until my new fan came in... and it was USUALLY fine unless i was idoling ... so i guess that could be whats wrong with yours too
Adam Momaya: Also: Make sure the coolant is a 50/50 mix, (50% anti-freeze and 50% distilled water). If it is mostly water, when it gets below freezing the water will freeze in the radiator as soon as you turn into a head wind or drive on the highway. This will cause the water to freeze and prevent any circulation to cool the engine.Rare but, happens more than you think....Show more
Arlen Lopiccalo: These are some of the reasons a car overheats;1. poor maintenance of the car. regular checkup and tune-up keeps the car in running condition.2. bad water pump3. clog radiator4. leaks in the radiator, hose or water pump5. faulty thermostat6. fan is faili! ng7. low level of coolant8. loose alternator fan beltYou should check all of this by a good mechanic. getting your car in a regular maintenance will avoid overheating and other car problems. Hope this helps!...Show more
Travis Colomb: possible causes: 1/ low or no coolant 2/ stuck thermostat 3/ defective water pump 4/ fan not running 5/ blown head gasket
Nikita Schroepfer: Overheating is one of the most dangerous things to happen to engine, you need to act as fast as possible, and do not drive if it overheats a lot, as it can damage your engine badly.- When engine is fully cold, check the coolant level, and top up if required. Check any leakages from the radiator.- Check engine oil level, and top up if required. Check engine base for leakages. Now switch the engine on, drive a few minutes and wait for the temperature to reach the operating temperature, stop at a safe place, don't switch the engine off, open up the hood and check if the radiator fan is working, ! if not, let the engine run and watch the temperature gauge, if! it goes above the operating temperature and fan still don't turn on, then fan is broken. And please remember, overheating once is too much. If you can't diagnose it by yourself, take it to the nearest garage asap.Good Luck!...Show more
Ivan Velazquez: Check your coolant level. If its low then fill (while car is cold) see if it leaks. Also your thermostat might not be opening when it should. Also if your water pump frozen it cant regulate the water through properly. Check your radiator cap it could jus be that simple. Good luck
Cherry Stampka: first, check your coolant level, open up the radiater cap (while engine is dead cold) and see how much coolant is in the radiater, dont just check the overflow tank,if its full, check your thermostat,it could be stuck closed and coolant will not flow,if thats good then you could have a clog in the radiater
