answers1: Worse then mediocre. Ask yourself, who would hire an
"anything studies" graduate. There are perhaps 10 positions in
academia for a Russian Studies graduate in the USA and those all
require a PhD. There is one that comes open perhaps every 2 or 3
years. The CIA may have need for 20 to maybe 50 more. <br>
<br>
You have to look at who hires the graduates and how many people are
getting the degree. There is a reason why there are few GA positions
in the humanities in grad school while in the sciences there are few
grad students without one.
answers2: More students study these subjects than are needed to fill
the available jobs. If you get a Ph.D. in Russian studies, expect to
be unemployed or underemployed for your whole life.
answers3: Very few jobs in those fields require a PhD. Most people
going for a PhD want to be a college professor. However, to maintain
a steady state of professors, each professor would only ever have one
PhD student - the one who will replace him when he retires. But many
professors graduate 10-30 PhD students, which means now we have far
more people who want to teach college than there are jobs for them.
There might only be a few positions open in Russian studies in the
whole country the year you graduate - and you're competing against far
more than just the student graduating this year, but also all those in
the last few years who didn't get jobs.
answers4: Humanities is like literature and philosophy, etc. Social
sciences contain issues like antropology, psychology, sociology, and
economics - particularly, the failings that concentration on how human
beings work together.

Why are kids STILL studying humanities/liberal arts?
answers1: One studies what they would like to do but unfortunately,
our Government has changed the American dream from being happy to
owning stuff. That's what is really sad and as far as "Communications
and Graphic Designs" they are both excellent choices. <br>
<br>
You can become a doctor but you will find that the money is not as
good as you think, until this country passes laws for "Tort Reform".
If your happiness is embedded in making money, then you should become
an Attorney; however, as you get older you will sadly find that all
the money, houses, cars and/or stuff, will never make you happy.
answers2: Mark, <br>
<br>
Mather will be the best answer. <br>
<br>
Even though we all need to admit, everyone has different intelligent
level. When I see young engineer in my church play piano wonderfully
and then practice at home myself. By seeing my tangled fingers on the
keyboard, I need to admit people has different level of intelligence.
Perfectly English in writing without correct mind training, what they
wrote is worthless of reading. The capability of language in English
will never equal to the capability of brain. <br>
<br>
In this countries, tons of millions intelligent Physicist formed a
Physic Forum and easily got me lost in their formula. People who
hold job as top technical engineer can play violin perfectly. I still
believe this country has the largest number of well trained
scientists. There are many complex reasons for employment, which
might not has anything to do with intelligence. <br>
<br>
As Mather said, a combined talents society is healthier.
answers3: I'm on the waiting list for the nursing program and I am
required to take an LER, a class not pertaining to my degree, and I
picked art and theatre, it interesting but pointless to me, they say
its to open ur horizons and for you to learn our great history!?
that's what i'm told anyways. I'm not sure why we still study it but i
didn't believe we should be required to take a humanities if we are
not going into that field, i actually signed up fo a oceanography
class but they told me that wouldn't count towards my associates
degree nor could i take it as a LER because its a science! that makes
no sense to me since im am going to be an RN!
answers4: We all have different aspects to our being that need to be
fullfilled, not just a paycheck....as the old saying goes 'man cannot
live by bread alone'. As well, in your premed studies, you may find
yourself taking psychology courses as a pre-requisite....if you are
going to be a successful doctor you may want to consider taking
communications...ever notice what a high percent of doctors have a
crappy bedside manner? And if someone is creative and has abilities
in that direction, what is wrong with studying graphic design. The
last thing this world needs ( and an individual as well) is a
professional who is in it for the money only and not a love of what
he/she is doing. Most experts on happiness will advise getting into a
career field that really excites you. Not only will you probably
excel at it, 40 years is a long time to work at something that may or
may not pay well, but bores the hell out of you.
answers5: One reason for sure is because engineering, science, math
are hard. Because they are hard, you have to have a lot of
perseverance, determination, and academic stamina to stick with it for
several years. I think that the fast food generation(have it your way,
right away ...im also a part of it) just doesn't have enough patience
and old-school work ethic like some previous generations. There also
seems to have been a transition to more people thinking they have more
of a calling in life to contribute to the overall well-being of
society in some caring/philosophical type of way...and so more people
go into humanities, like psychology...at least that's why i did
psychology.. now im back in school doing computer engineering, so i
kind of know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Engineering is so cool
im not sure why i didn't research it more in the first place, it is so
intellectually fulfilling and alot of other people think what im doing
is absolutely fascinating... and they contribute a lot to society. I
look forward to contributing more to society than i could with my
psych degree and also being able to be financially independent and
relieve others of the problem of taking care of me.
answers6: If you have any beef it should be the fact that you need to
do pre-med in your country instead of being able to jump straight into
medicine like many other countries. <br>
<br>
Many graduate vacancies just ask for a degree in any discipline and
they will give you relevant training. <br>
<br>
However, i think the the portion of people without vocational degrees
is probably higher than the economy could use.
answers7: Economics and humanity- 3 simple words to answer, but of
course you'll need an explanation. <br>
Granted there are quite a few classes that seem useless to others. But
if they close those classes, the school system will take a cut in
funding as well. Take for instance- literature. Reading about foreign
mythology has no place in any profession unless you want to be an
English professor. But each semester costs approximately $300, and
another $200 for text books. Some of that pays for instructor's wage,
some to publishing companies, but another chunk goes to the
institution of higher learning. In the humanities section, if you
don't teach ethics, then your children will contribute to white collar
crimes, if you teach women studies, your children will facilitate
racism and all the other -ISMS. If no one learns anthropology,
dieticians and related biological sciences will never fill in the gaps
that helps determine DNA makeup pertaining to metabolic
inconsistencies. If no one learns sociology, agencies like battered
wives, rape crisis centers and marriage counseling will dwindle- and
today's divorce rate will get even worse, not to mention the children
who get victimized from those inhumane practices. <br>
People study theater so they can make money without contributing to
the community except for temporary morale and self actualizing
benefits. <br>
Yeah, who needs communications if you can text people now? Wrong. If
you can't sound professional then might as well e-mail your proposal
to your fiance. <br>
But if you are classified from 60% or more of the "classical norm" ,
rich and well off, then, yes, your right- we should close down half of
our curriculum, and put thousands more out of work.
answers8: 1 Everyone has unique talents. <br>
2 Entertainment is always in high demand. You've watched countless
movies, TV shows, plays, concerts, etc, I'm POSITIVE. It's one of the
most lucrative industries in America. <br>
3 The US is ranked 3rd in depression and low personal satisfaction
rates. Probably more than half the wounds treated in hospitals are a
direct or indirect result of mental illness.
Psychologists/psychiatrists are doctors too, and have to work just as
hard as surgeons to get their PhD's. <br>
4. You are underestimating the number of doctors, engineers, etc. We
have the same amount as we have had in the past. <br>
<br>
Educate yourself, stranger. You may be in a pre-med program, but it
doesn't change the fact that you're both senseless and ignorant.
answers9: "Do what you love, and the dollars will follow." <br>
OR <br>
"If you love what you do, then the money won't matter." <br>
<br>
Sure, your answer is very practical; engineers, scientists, doctors,
etc. will always be needed. But, you need to remember that each person
has a different perception of happiness, success, self-actualization,
etc. This is an idea you learn in humanities/liberal arts courses.
<br>
<br>
On a side note, good luck with pre-med--more than half of all students
applying to medical school will not be accepted to a single program.
Getting accepted to a top program is even more difficult; some schools
have two percent acceptance rates. In essence, you are seriously
playing the probabilities by pursuing a pre-med route--what will you
do if you don't get accepted to medical school? What do you do with a
degree in pre-medicine, biology, chemistry, etc. when similar fields
at the graduate level are just as competitive? In essence, the English
major who loves literature will face less competition at the graduate
school level (and thus have better opportunities at success) while
doing pursuing what he or she loves to do. <br>
<br>
Cheers!
answers10: There's still a place for Liberal Arts/Humanities degrees,
but they usually need to be followed with some kind of
graduate/professional school. <br>
<br>
Actually, we need more skilled journeymen in the trades who have
served four-year apprenticeships. We need THEM more than we need 2.8
GPA Sociology grads.
answers11: One reason is not everyone can, or wants to use such a
level of calculus and physics in their career. Some people have more
subjective brains than objective, and do not enjoy working with black
and white formulas. <br>
<br>
We would be in big trouble if everyone only went into science and
math. Our world needs many skills and if nearly everyone went for the
same majors then students wouldn't even be able to get into the major.
Now, I do agree with you that some majors are impracticable at a BA/BS
level. For instance, psychology is a popular one. However, if one gets
a PhD in pyschology, thats a different story, and a good thing,
because we will need some people to study the human mind, especially
as society continues to grow and change.

I am really confused if I should take up commerce or humanities/arts..?
answers1: well as i perceive that you are confused on taking a step i
would like to prefer you the field you like not you need. keep in mind
that , a field in which you are capable is more good than the filed
you only think good. your talent can make your earning more..... so

literature can be the best source for your income. for more guidance

would afterwards use to get a job, lets make a comparative review,
Humanities, is an expression of one self in any artistic or even
philosophical in so doing, I suppose that you would take Humanities
for you really like it and if so you need not to take it as a course
for humanities is not study you should make profit from. It is what
you would use as an expression of inner self in this sense humanities
is mainly for self fulfillment and of the like if you study humanities
and you would like to profit for it then you are not taking it as it
should be, Humanities is not a study it is an activity you do
everyday. But in the other hand if practicality is the concern and you
would like to study to earn a job and a compensation thereof then it
is highly suggested for you to take commerce related courses or any
other which has a direct impact to the the market in other words in
the real world. Humanities is of optimism and not to be used to earn a
dignified profit from, the same way as Picasso did. He painted what he
feels not what he would like to get. You can be an artist anytime and
anywhere but you can never have a degree to uplift you anytime you
want.

Is Fine Arts and The Arts the same thing?
answers1: I think fine arts is talking about like band choir and
foreign languages while the arts are talking about all of the arts
including drama which may also be a fine art depending on school and
drawing and writing
answers2: The terms are essentially interchangeable. Usually you only
hear the term Fine Arts in academic settings - like a Fine Arts
degree. I think it generally is applied to art as a theory, rather
than art as something applicable. The general public usually just
refers to it as The Arts, so that term can generally be thought to
mean art that is applicable; that people can enjoy, rather than art
for art's sake. <br>

what is abstract art to you?
answers1: Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line
to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence
from visual references in the world. Abstraction indicates a
departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure
from accurate representation can be only slight, or it can be partial,
or it can be complete.
answers2: You must start with something. Afterwards you can remove all
traces of reality. There is no danger then....,because the idea of the
object will have left an indelible mark.

What is mainstream art?
answers1: Folk art for one. Arts and Crafts type things... quilts,
toile painted furniture, wood carvings of water foul, window or lawn
ornaments, costume jewelry... <br>
<br>
Paintings of the kind you might find in a hotel or restaurant:
landscapes, cottages, watercolor florals, animals. <br>
<br>
Generally, for something to be 'mainstream' it must be understood and
enjoyed or appreciated by the masses. So mainstream art is generally
just aesthetically pleasing, and not so much something that evokes too
much thought. Not to say that it's all boring. <br>
<br>
To be really simplistic, I'd say that mainstream art sells in volumes,
and fine art is expensive per piece?
answers2: a water wheel
answers3: When we say mainstream, it refers to the ideas, attitudes,
or activities that are regarded as normal or conventional; the
dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts. Or popular among the
majority. <br>
<br>
One example are movies that you hear a lot about from other people and
advertisements.Sometimes, it is equivalent to a loss of inventive
creativity.

Do you agree : "All art is quite useless "?
answers1: Picasso said "Art washes away from the soul the dust of
everyday life." Art is not useless! It is what makes ordinary life
bearable! It is the beauty & meaning in an often ugly & seemingly
arbitrary world. Art lives with us, in our homes, surrounding us with
beauty. Art inspires us, educates, provokes, intrigues us. Whether you
go to an art gallery, or open a magazine, go to a movie, everywhere
you go, artists & designers have made their mark. <br>
<br>
From realistic to abstract, visual art is very subjective & individual
tastes vary. Someone may call a piece useless simply because they
don't like or understand it. Just as musical tastes vary & what is
pleasant to one person may be noise to another. Art may not be
utilitarian in the way that say a fork is. You don't "use" it for
anything except aesthetic pleasure. Though even the fork that you hold
is in a sense a work of art. A designer conceived of it before it went
into production. There is an art to everything. And what about music,
theatre, poetry, literature, all of the arts? Entertainment is a huge
industry. Everyone needs their escapes, needs to be swept away by
music, a movie, a good book once in a while. This is also art. What
would people do without TV, without books? Bare walls. Nothing
aesthetically pleasing. Nothing in existence that wasn't purely
functional. Nothing but the basics of life. Food, water, shelter,
clothing (might as well wear sack cloths since there wouldn't be
anyone to design otherwise)... <br>
<br>
Imagine a world with no creativity. Imagine how bleak, ugly &
uninspiring it would be. How cold & meaningless. Imagine if mundane

Art is divine.
answers2: Art is all around us. Engineering, architecture, surgery,
fashion, handmade rugs, even what you "create" when you make dinner.
The list goes on and on. It is so much more than sculpture and
painting. But, I think the creative process is equally as important
as the finished product. Painting is widely recognised as a very
beneficial treatment for people with mental health issues. The stuff
in galleries, worth thousands, has no function other than ornamental.
Yet, art is still one of the highest trading commodities in the world.
answers3: To me Art is the form and Science the content. Every art has
a science of its own and there is an art in every scientific endeavor.
As such, to either agree that art is divine or that it is useless,
would amount to an immature understanding of both science and art.
answers4: Nice Quote!...........I believe it was one of Oscar wildes'
many aphorisms. <br>

Yes I think art is a bit useless but our walls would look a bit plain
without it!
answers5: I disagree, art means to me as a wonderful way to look at
who I am by writing and drawing. Now other arts is something people
who tell who they are, if you think art is useless, that is your way
of saying you don't want to be in life. Art has many types, some I may
like and some not. But they are all useful, maybe you should rethink
the way you act about art, like the way I act about the enviorment.
answers6: No. Today especially, much art is quite utilitarian. Art
means different things - it depends on the specific art you're
referring to. Yes, there are many 'types' of art.
answers7: I am an art teacher, so NO, I don't think it's useless!
Visual art sparks imagination and creativity in kids (and adults) and
teaches hand-eye coordination, observation skills, pride in
accomplishment, thinking outside the box...... <br>
On another avenue of thinking about it, there is "art for art's sake"
and then art for more practical purposes: art in advertising, greeting
cards, clothing and interior design, children's literature
illustrations......lots of things can fall under the category of art,
and our world would be pretty boring without it!
answers8: No, only if you don't think or see or feel. It's all useful
for whatever one sees any particular piece or form useful for. There
is no rule book on what art has to be. It's wide open to the
imagination
answers9: Art does not mean the same thing to everyone, so it is
useless for some people and quite useful for others. <br>

What I find quite useless and hateful are people such as you who post
anti-LGBT hatreds and discrimination in a public forum. You should be
ashamed of yourself. I certainly hope you don't have the gall to call
yourself a "christian," you hypocrite.
answers10: Is it useless?---What is useless? Could there be a useless
question or a useless answer? Think about it! <br>
What does art mean to me? Art may be many things depending on your
world point of view (even a splatter of spaghettis thrown on a wall or
the aspect of the clouds in the sky). Art may be in the eye of the
beholder and even from an utilitarian perspective it has its
uses(Hollywood can attest to that). <br>
Does it have many types? Yes. Useful and useless? Is this another
useless question or my a useless response? Think about it!
answers11: Art just means made. are all the artifacts of our
civilsation useless? Most were made with very practical reasons in
mind. Is art for arts sake useless? well if it is only for arts sake,
but many good uses come from useless things. there are entertainment
values. there are technical values. and there are social values. There
are also the preservations of history by paintings and the use of art
in advertising. <br>
I think it might even be true that there is no distinction between
what could be considered art, craft or trade. Even the distinction of
arts and sciences blurs. And of course is politics an art, science,
craft or just a trade.
everyday life." Art is not useless!
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Imagine a world with no creativity. Imagine how bleak, ugly &
uninspiring it would be. How cold & meaningless. Imagine if mundane
existence was all that there was. <br>
<br>
Art exalts us. Artists remind us what is extraordinary & beautiful in
the world. They speak for us in a language we may not have access to,
make us feel, make us think, make us laugh. <br>

Is anyone familiar with the (illigal?) Child Migration Scheme from Britain to Australia?
answers1: Hello Bebz!!! I don't know of any illegal child migration
scheme. There was a child migration scheme from Britain to Australia
that was sanctioned by both governments. I think that both governments
e.g. the House of Commons and the House of Lords in London and the
Federal House of Representatives and the Federal Senate in Australia
passed legislation enabling it so it was not illegal. <br>
<br>
I think that the first laws enabling it were passed here in 1946. This

Have you done a Visual Arts portfolio?
answers1: There's no specific list of things to put into your
portfolio (unless they gave you one specifically for the interview.)
Put in you best works. Be eclectic. Show some drawings, paintings,
photography, whatever you have that you think is good. <br>
<br>
They wont be judging what kind of artist you are based on your
portfolio. They're getting an idea of your skill level and your grasp
on the visual arts. They basically wont to know if the things they
teach you are likely to take, or if you aren't developed enough in the
basics to benefit from their program. <br>
<br>
Don't sweat it. Most people who apply for art programs, aren;t going
because they think it'll be easy, or because they like to doodle on
the back of their notebook. They go because they are serious about
becoming better artist. I'm betting you are the latter, and I'm
betting you're portfolio will be good enough do pass the interview.

Who is better at acting???Why?
answers1: neither of them should be called actors
answers2: Selena Gomez definitely. Miley can't even act so there's no
competition there. Selena is amazing and she should really break free
of Disney. They breed troubled children there. If she weren't on
Disney she would have so much more to offer. Miley couldn't live
without Disney. They are her career.
answers3: selena selena selena all da way...i used 2 like miley on
hannah montana....but shes turned into a slu* right now soo
like............ <br>

selenas character in wizards is boring and mean
answers6: I think both of them are good actresses. Miley puts more
heart into it in the movie than into her show on Disney. But Selena is
really good in her movie "Another Cinderella Story" also. Selena is
more humorous though. Everytime i watch Wizards of Waverly Place i
just crack up and rewind to watch it again
answers7: To tell you the truth, I think both of them are good
actresses! People say there is a rivalry between them, because of Nick
Jonas and the both of them going out with him or something!
Personally, I think it's a bunch of turkey! <br>
<br>
Miley is pretty good, but that's because of Hannah Montana, now on the
other hand, she isn't as good at singing as people say she is! <br>

well! I also like her acting on Wizards of Waverly Place!

Hamlet help with act and scene?
answers1: The act is a larger division: the play is made up of acts,
and the acts are made up of scenes. An act is literally an action; the
scene is the setting where the actions take place.

what is the proclamation act?
answers1: He owned many from what I have read, but no real truth has
been proven . The only reason the Emancipation Proclamation Act was
implemented was to cripple the south during the war of the little bit
of production they had. Sadly to say Abraham Lincoln didn't give a
damn about the slaves, he just wanted the unity of the states. The
civil war was truly fought over the fact that the confederate states
didn't want to have a central government but for each state to govern
itself. So slavery wasn't even a issue to say the least.
answers2: The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was issued October 7, 1763 by
King George III following Great Britain's acquisition of French
territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian
War/Seven Years' War. The purpose of the proclamation was to organize
Britain's vast new North American empire, and to stabilize relations
with North American Indians through regulation of trade, settlement,
and land purchases on the western frontier. <br>

Intolerable Acts <br>
<br>
Definition: Series of laws sponsored by British Prime Minister Lord
North and enacted in 1774 in response to the Boston Tea Party. The
laws were these: <br>
<br>
Impartial Administration of Justice Act, which allowed the royal
governor of a colony to move trials to other colonies or even to
England if he feared that juries in those colonies wouldn't judge a
case fairly <br>
Massachusetts Bay Regulating Act made all law officers subject to
appointment by the royal governor and banned all town meetings that
didn't have approval of the royal governor <br>
Boston Port Act, which closed the port of Boston until the price of
the dumped tea was recovered, moved the capital of Massachusetts to
Salem, and made Marblehead the official port of entry for the
Massachusetts colony. <br>
Quartering Act, which allowed royal troops to stay in houses or empty
buildings if barracks were not available <br>
Quebec Act, which granted civil government and religious freedom to
Catholics living in Quebec.

Is Winnie the Pooh movie only in theaters for one day?
answers1: My best guess is that "only in theaters" meant that it will

you'll have to wait.
answers2: It means that the movie is coming out on the 15th, but it
will only be in theaters.

Home Theater and Tv Help PLEASE?
answers1: SPDIF can be either optical or coaxial. <br>
<br>
Most TV's have an optical output so look for this on the back panel.
If so - get a long optical cable to run to your receiver. <br>
<br>
If your TV has an RCA jack (usually colored orange for the SPDIF) -
run a long Video cable to the coaxial input on your receiver.
answers2: TV outputs usually have 1 optical output, and 1 analog
output (red and white RCA). These connections can be used to send
audio to a stereo or home theater system. This is not the ideal
connection. If you have a separate home theater system I recommend
connecting all your source's (ie cable box, dvd, xbox) directly to
your home theater receiver and then connect the output of the home
theater receiver to your TV. In all likelihood your home theater
receiver will have a better decoder than your TV does so you will
yield better sound.

I'm sure you would come across a theater or two. :)
answers2: THE most haunted theater in Illinois is the Lincoln Theater
in Decatur. http://www.haunteddecatur.com/lincoln.html <br>
They have awesome tours there regularly. I went last year during the
summer and it blew my socks off. I even caught orbs and weird trails
with My digital camera there. Go there if you can!

theater/acting for film L.A/NYC?
answers1: NYC for Theatre- No and why <br>
Right now with the economy theatre and Broadway will probably be
taking a major hit so they are hurting since people won't be seeing
plays as much as they used to. It's hard enough to make a living as a
theatre actor/actress as it is and will probably only be getting
harder. If you consider the statistics, thousands of actors and
actresses live and word in NYC but only hundreds are actually working
at their craft. <br>
<br>
LA for film -(it's hollywood duh, just kidding) better for acting if
you really want the pain! <br>
LA is the place to be to make films but it's so expensive to live
there (NYC too) and right now people have been seeing movies like
crazy because for the average american movies are cheaper that a
theatre production and let them escape their worries for a few hours.
And the thing about movie and film acting you get paid ridiculous
amount even as just an extra... good money even if you are not the
star <br>
<br>
The thing about movie vs. theatre acting is they are such different
styles of acting look into what you like best... both involve a though
business that's all about who you know and your reputation and
experience. Also you need to pick one of the other because they are so
different. A lot of casting directors won't cast you for film and tv
work if you have had too much theatre experience and visa versa <br>
<br>
Personally I would go with movies, and LA Personally I don't feel safe
in either city lol but for movies LA is the place to be. It's
Hollywood baby! Here's why... the way the economy is right now and
just the simple fact that a movie ticket costs less than a theatre
ticket, the public will be seeing more movies than theatre. Either
direction,, whichever you choose will take a lot of hard work, skill,
bravery and building strong relationships with people high up in the
business. <br>
<br>
just my opinion ;)
answers2: there are a kind of variations. for instance in theater you
take advantage of very large expressions so the target audience can
see. In movie your expressions must be alot a lot less because of
close united statesit will seem un sensible. also, you do not ought to
projecet as a lot in movie as you ought to on degree because of booms.
so that you ought to probable be good once you toned each little thing
down somewhat

answers1: It's an expression and a behavior! <br>
An escape from, sometimes, harsh realities or the creation of such
realities. It's the imagination used in an intellectual form.

It's art.

Self-realization and growing. Expressing things which in this
imperfect world cannot be expressed and speaking beyond language.
Respite when I am weary in the struggle to become who I am. Poetry to
me is a spiritual tool more than anything else.
answers6: pointless crap that bores the hell outta me.
answers7: It means inspiration, which comes from within. Poetry is a
creative <br>

Any tips on writing poetry?
answers1: tricky thing. look into in search engines like google. just
that might help!
answers2: Play with words, and they don't have to rhyme. Look at
Getrude Stein for an example.
answers3: Writing poetry has always been about emotion; thrilling,
bitterness and even humorous. Although it sounds simple enough, it
isn't always. Poetry can be as complicated or as frivolous possible,
it's all up to the author. <br>
<br>
Poetry is food for thought and all food has its ingredients. <br>
<br>
Show all senses. A genuine poem offers its readers a variety of senses
to endure while reading. <br>
<br>
1.Smell. Give the readers a mental smell of the scene. Create a
situation where the reader can distinguish between a 'good' or 'bad'
scent. <br>
2. Touch. Is it rough, smooth, pleasurable? Give the reader a way to
'touch' the scenery. <br>
3. Sight. What does it look like? Describe the scenery, describe the
situation. Use words which will describe it easily without going too
far into detail. <br>
4. Hearing. Does it screech? Does it yelp? Or is it smoothing and
sensual? Again, let the situation give a sense of what the
surroundings sound like. <br>
5. Taste. Is it salty or bitter? It doesn't always have to be food
that has a taste. It could be a situation which leaves a 'bad taste in
your mouth' or even a good taste.
answers4: Read a lot of poetry. Read a lot of different kinds of
poetry. Write, write, write. But be able to recognize garbage and
throw it away. <br>
<br>
And stay off this web page asking for advice -- become your own
person. Develop your own voice.
answers5: you dont have to read a lot of poetry to write it really. <br>
maybe if your trying to to a specific kind (haiku or something) <br>
but otherwise you just write what you feel. <br>
thats what its all about anyway
answers6: read a lot of different voices and try to hear the music in
them. Then hear your own voice. <br>
The biggest mistake I see is that the thrust or thought that's being
communicated hasn't yet jelled in the writer's mind. When it does, the
flow becomes crisp and the idea as sharp as an arrow. <br>
For me at least, poetry is a way of expressing those things that don't
immediately lend themselves to being communicated by other means. It's
more of a taste or aroma than a concrete idea. I hope this makes
sense!!!!
answers7: i think of you purely might desire to supply it a while. do
not rush it. Poetry comes from the coronary heart and is meant to
coach what your feeling. The poem which you wrote grow to be a poem.
there is not any incorrect thank you to place it. i won't be able to
relate to it inspite of the undeniable fact that it would desire to
touch somebody else. save up the writing. it is going to come extra
convenient and extra convenient.
answers8: I'd recommend reading a lot of poetry. At the same time,
I'd recommend a couple of books about writing poetry, like The Poet's
Companion by Laux and Addonizio, and How to Write Poetry by Ted
Hughes. After that, you may want to read some criticism on poetry so
that it really drives home what the difference between good poetry and
bad poetry is: Pope, Jarrall, the usual suspects.
answers9: extremely tough step. try searching into a search engine.

How did philosophy influence the following?
answers1: The ideas of Plato had always been of interest to
Christians. Plato was well known. <br>
"Christian thinkers, almost from the beginning of Christian
speculation, found in the spiritualism of Plato a powerful aid in
defending and maintaining a conception of the human soul which pagan
materialism rejected, but to which the Christian Church was
irrevocably committed. All the early refutations of psychological
materialism are Platonic. So, too, when the ideas of Plotinus began to
prevail, the Christian writers took advantage of the support thus lent
to the doctrine that there is a spiritual world more real than the
world of matter." <br>
<a href="http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10742b.htm"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10742b.h...</a>
<br>
Neo-Platonism was incorporated forever into the theology of
Christianity by St. Augustine. Then 1000 years later Aristotle was
incorporated forever into Christianity by Aquinas. <br>
<br>
But the fact is that the Church allowed no philosophers it did not
approve of for more than 1000 years. Boethius was the last one
allowed. Anyone born into the Christian world who tried to think for
himself was put to death. <br>
<br>
Religion influenced architecture and art, hence so did philosophy. The
philosophy of art, music, literature, etc., including architecture, is
called esthetics. <br>

Philosophy Question?
answers1: What Mr Russell thought was his own opinion, and I do
disagree with a couple of them. <br>
<br>
To put it simply: <br>
<br>
Philo = Love <br>
Sophia = Wisdom <br>
<br>
Philosophy = the love of wisdom
answers2: According to me, philosophy should elucidate the facts about
reality, and really its just an organic process an individual goes
through as they grow up and begin to acquire knowledge and experience
about their world (THE world). Philosophy, as worthless, seems to be
a good assessment, because often it fails to succeed in its purpose.
It seems to over-complicate or cloud reality while distorting
knowledge. A good foundation for politics religion and other proven
blights on civilization.
answers3: In his own words.... ;-) <br>
<br>

to seem worth stating, and to end with something so paradoxical that
no one will believe it." <br>
<br>
-- Bertrand Russell -- <br>

In my opinion at least. What Bertrand thought about the <br>
validity of philosophy I couldn't say. I'm not that well acquainted
with his work.

Someone who likes philosophy is called?
answers1: The study of philosophy, whether formal or informal, would
still deem a person a philosopher, because that is what you do,
philosophize things. Plato and the like didn't formally study
philosophy, they pondered things and contemplated certain subjects
that fell into the category of philosophy. The people who study their
works are also called philosophers, because it is the study of
philosophy. It doesn't have to be a formal education. <br>
<br>
It's like being a writer. You may not have gone to school to study
writing, or be employed to regularly write something, but you can
still call yourself a writer if that is what you do.

Philosophy - will neuroscience replace it?
answers1: Probably
answers2: Do not get too carried away by neuroscience. It has done a
reasonably good job at mapping cognitive segments of the brain, made
some understanding of neuropathological states, and increased our
knowledge of neural pathways, but otherwise the brain remains unknown
and imponderable as it has always been.
answers3: Philosophy is also and I suppose foremost an expression of
our selves and our opinions and out views. How will neuroscience
achieve this.
answers4: Philosophy has always been the pioneer of science.
Philosophers ask questions about the nature of reality. Science takes
up those questions and finds ways to examine and test them.
Eventually science gets such a strong understanding of reality that it
develops technology. Technology is the grandchild of philosophy and
allows us to apply what we have learned about reality to making life
better. <br>
<br>
Any decent philosopher should make himself very familiar with the
psychology, economics, politics, history, physics, and other sciences
and humanities. <br>

Philosophers are not afraid of neuroscience. Understanding the
chemistry and processes of the brain are not a threat to philosophy.
They are one of the goals of philosophy, understanding how we think.
But knowing the mechanism of thought will not give us insights into
the content of thought. We will always need to have philosophy to
give meaning to the processes of a physical brain. <br>
<br>
Philosophy will never be obsolete. It will merely move on to pioneer
in other areas where science has not yet reached.
answers5: Yes the entire world is mechanical and meaningless. <br>

None of this exists to me without me. <br>
All rivers flow to the sea. (Ecc 1:7) <br>
To be or not to be (Hamlet Soliloquy)
answers6: No. Science may show us what things are, but we will always
have to figure out the steps taken and avoided and why they are.
answers7: I fairly doubt that neuroscience might actually replace
philosophy. besides the certainty that neuroscience is a much greater
rigorous line of inquiry that could grant greater contained in the way
of sensible suggestions, it shouldn't provide up philosophers doing
what they do. as long as human beings have an interest in analyzing
philosophy and can post and examine it, that is here to stay. the
different factor you spotted is that lots of philosophy types are not
all that involved contained in the way of incredibly technological
information. that's in part simply by fact they use thoroughly diverse
approaches (philosophy incredibly revolves around concept and
reasoning, while technological information consists of experimental
inquiry and statistical diagnosis of information), and their standard
targets are diverse. In philosophy, greater or much less something is
going see you later as you are able to argue your case. In
technological information, that is approximately definitively

to the "precise" answer in technological information, while philosophy
genuinely revolves around the thought there is no precise answer. As
such, diverse human beings are going to have an interest in the two

will have an interest in technological information, while human beings
that are greater into discourse and debate will usually want
philosophy. As you are able to probable tell, this leads to a point of
grievance by each and each container of the different: philosophers
are frequently of the view that technological information is only too
regimented and unopen to communicate, while scientists evaluate
philosophers to be a fallacious and self-discipline that varieties

wonderful in saying that philosophy (and to a pair quantity
technological information itself) are constrained by the flexibility
of the human concepts. inspite of the undeniable fact that, that does
no longer propose anybody's going to have an interest. think of of it
like this: besides the certainty which you are able to purchase a
digicam at the instant in case you prefer, some human beings
nevertheless prefer to paint.
answers8: of course it will. just like greenspan replaced economics.
answers9: Mama, those are two different things that have two different
purposes. It's like asking if embroidery will replace ice cream. And
besides, what does science have to do with anything? <br>
<br>
I don't get it.
answers2: Do not get too carried away by neuroscience.
Technology is the grandchild of philosophy and
allows us to apply what we have learned about reality to making life
better. <br>

Any decent philosopher should make himself very familiar with the
psychology, economics, politics, history, physics, and other sciences
and humanities. <br>
