Which is better in a camera phone: 4 x digital zoom or 3 x optical zoom (internal)?

Miguel Koczela: Get one with the most optical zoom

Darrin Hixenbaugh: Optical zoon is always better

Inge Mclaurine: yes optical zoom is the only real zoom...same as what your binoculars would use ...sortadigital zoom only virtually enlarges the image therefore it distorts yor pic ,but if buy an digital zoom c phone dont use the zoom function . just zoom it after the pic is taken.. figure ??...Show more

Abraham Ladick: The 5 megapixel camera in the G800 with optical zoom definitely takes better quality pictures when zoomed than the digital zoom of the G600. The G800 also has a Xenon flash which is substantially better than the weenie LED flash of the G600s. The caveat is that otherwise the G600 is a better phone. It has a better UI and it's way more customizable. I find that as far as cameras go, Samsung did a better job with their 3 megapixel Qualcomm phone cameras... How strange... In Korea Samsung sells a 10 MP camera phone, which must be the bulkiest ! phone ever!...Show more

Dorethea Beaston: Ask yourself, if this is really important... I'm certain the cell phone store you are making this purchase at, has both, so try both out... Weigh your options about the size and weight of the two phones and go from there. Please keep in mind, this is a phone... the cameras on them aren't going to be the best regardless of the zoom.

Gilberto Cratin: A phone with 4x optical dosent exists. The samsung G800 has a 3x optical and thats the only phone in the world currently having an optical zoom. However the Camera quality is nobetter than Nokia's N82 plus it has much better features than the G800.

Ermelinda Stalnaker: You can get a decent, high resolution and compact camera for under 150 at wal-mart, but the zoom usually is not the best with the compact cameras. The zoom is better with bulkier ones.

Robin Tommie: 3X Optical Zoom hands-down anywhere anytime.Digital "zoom" technology is good only if you want to tak! e photos that make people look like pink blobs. They mathemati! cally guess the pixels.
